Reflections 05:16
Our reflections Are playing on my mind Sat in silence Wasting time Painting different pictures from the same colours Different shapes from the same lines Your impression Has left a sour taste It’s such a shame, such a shame It seems like such a waste I could show you my view But I know it will be lost on you Is there truly anywhere to go? Our defiance Seems to be clear And our alliance Has disappeared Fighting sides until the tears fall Never was it easier to draw Our conclusions And make them right Now is not The time to fight Always show me what you see I promise it won’t be lost on me Is there truly anywhere to go? We find ourselves in this place again I am finding it hard to find if there’s truly anywhere to go I don’t know Was this all a dream? She was there Dancing in the water She was still Trying to save her And I watched Unaware of what was going on Is she really gone? I can’t believe it Is she really gone?

No Room 05:20
Be the ladder Stood before me Waiting to be climbed To raise me from the ground The walls that surround you Stop thoughts from getting in Too many voices Saying the same thing Dominating the decisions made He who speaks loudest will be heard At the top of it all No room for anymore Squawking crows Noise without remorse Eyy, it’s ok for you You can fly away Go somewhere else after Hey there, I see your wings Glistening in the sunset What are you collecting there? What for? Hey, what for? Hey, what for? Hey, what for? You think that I’m not You think I’m not serious You think that I’m not You think I’m not serious What’s going on? You think that I’m not You think I’m not serious Dominating the decisions made She who speaks loudest

Stolen in one breath Settle in the depth This nook could get stuck Trap me in These straight faces Are tormented They were not created This way Take a twist on the fall Keep on that Kinder pace overall You’re not in tune Move on Aware of responsibility To respond to the wise ones Reacting to forces Of will and good practice Tap on my conscience The inner voice knows Turn on those lights To brighten our eyes Take a twist on the fall Keep on that Kinder pace overall You’re not in tune Move on Hold tight But open out

Speaks To Me 01:37
There’s a distant humming from the street The empty silence that it meets Speaks to me But I don’t wanna hear How I longed to be here But now, it speaks to me Can you hear it coming from the street? I never could have seen It speaks to me But I don’t wanna hear How I longed to be here But now, it speaks to me

Azure 04:06
I was in a really good place Where was that? Now I’m struggling To find Where I was Not here So unaware That I was in motion An azure ocean Inside How will I know next time? Memories seem A distant dream The pace unfolds Turn back pages To when I was in A different place Now I’m in a haze And I’m wondering How will I know next time? I was in a really good place Now I’m

I’m getting ready Pack all of my things I don’t know what it brings Going back to where I belong I’m getting ready Gotta pack all of my things I don’t know what it brings Going back to where I belong Going back to my home Will I still be the same? Will I still feel the same? What will there be for me? Who will be there to greet me? Can I still do the same things? What will I bring with me? And who will I be? Back to where I belong Feeling different Feel a little different Yet everything’s the same Feeling different Yet everything’s the same Back to where I belong

about

The south London jazz scene is expansive and intoxicating, with Kanna providing a fresh sound within it. Self-produced and years in the making, the band formed in 2012 as a collaboration between four friends with a diversity of musical influences. Long distances, opposing time zones and hectic working lives have shaped, tested and formed this project, a testament to their strength.

The band have grown their sound patiently and organically into an exciting collection of tracks that dance between genres and collective influences. BADBADNOTGOOD, Fatima and Cortex have all fed into the sound, but Kanna’s music is their own, existing outside the reference points of their peers.
